Selby Hind-Wills is the first junior player, from Crawley, to sign a professional contract with Worthing Thunder's EBL Div 1 Men's team, while still being an U18!
Playing up an age group is nothing new for Selby, and is something he has been doing since he joined the club and the sport in 2008. Back then the club only started at u14s due to lack in players. However Selby joined us as an U12 and has been in the squad ever since.
His physical, aggressive and explosive play never let on to the fact that he was younger than the rest of his team-mates, and even had others questioning his age when he later played in his own age groups in 2010 & 2012.
Selby helped lead Holy Trinitys u15 team to their 4th National Schools title in 2011, where he picked up finals MVP honours, while being an u14.
The 2012/13 season saw Selby led his own age group's Cagers team to the most dominating U16 league title in the club's history. He averaged 24ppg & 14 rebounds per game, in a season where the boys beat every team by 30 points or more. However unfortunately the Sussex finals clashed with the National Schools finals this year, so the boys were forced to give up their spot and missed out on doing the double (League and Play-offs).
All of us here at Cagers wish Selby good luck with the 2014/15 season with the Worthing Thunder Men and you know we'll be buying tickets to come down and support :p
